Ownership/Rental

Units at Midlands Manor can be rented or bought under Life Rights ownership. Life rights ownership is considered the most sensible form of ownership for retirement living, it allows for hassle free property management, financial peace of mind and a stress free living environment. 

Once a unit has been purchased or rented, residents will pay a monthly 'levy' to cover all of their daily requirements. Our levy is "all inclusive" and aims to cover the vast majority of living expenses. 

Residents will be able to relax and spend their days exactly how they desire while all the rest is taken care of. 

Upon the sale of your Life Right, the profits are split 50/50 between the developer and the Life Right owner/ their estate.

With regards to rental:

  • 2 people sharing from as little as approx R16 500 each pm.

  • Individual from approx R23 250 pm.

The above includes rental as well as levy, an all inclusive lifestyle.

Whats included?

  • All Meals - Three meals per day, carefully planned and prepared with the utmost attention paid to dietary requirements and of course, great tasting meals. 

  • Tea times - Morning and afternoon tea will be served along with snacks or treats. Coffee and tea stations will be always available at various places throughout the property for residents to help themselves. 

  • Living assistance - With a minimum of two carers on site at all times, our residents will always be in safe hands. 

  • Full time nurse - A registered nurse is on duty/ on call 24/7. 

  • Shuttle - Transport available for weekly shopping, medical appointments, church services and weekend outings.

  • Wifi - Free throughout the Midlands Manor property. 

  • Room cleaning - Units will be serviced twice per week.

  • Laundry - Laundry will be collected and washed twice a week. 

  • Generator - A 70kw standby generator is used during those inconvenient load shedding times.

  • Water and electricity - Electricity up to R800 per unit per month, residents geysers and lights are not metered.

What's included

Midlands Manor is an all inclusive retirement establishment situated in the heart of the Midlands, Howick. Known for its perfect retirement environment, Howick has rapidly become one of the country's most popular and fastest growing retirement destinations.

 

While some of the units are renovated and sub divided rooms from the existing house, others are newly constructed or transformed outer buildings. A year and a half of construction and renovation has created our 20 beautiful and unique units, all consisting of a bedroom (or two), bathroom and living area. 

 

Here at Midlands Manor we strive to create an upmarket, care free living environment with our main objective of being non institutional and as "homey" as possible. This coupled with an active, interactive and friendly environment makes for the perfect retirement lifestyle. 

With a maximum of around 28 people, residents can expect a higher level of attention, care and a more tight knit community without  ever having to worry about availability of facilities, assistance, communal areas and attentiveness.

MM is situated on Stockowners farm, alongside the Umngeni river and just below the Midmar Dam wall. The beautiful property is conveniently placed, close to hospitals, shops, the N3 Highway and the Midlands Meander. This all while being surrounded by accessible farmlands and natural beauty. The popular Umngeni river walk can be accessed directly from the Midlands Manor property.

Am I allowed a pet at MM?

Residents living in a ground floor unit may have one dog at MM. No other pets are permitted. Strict rules will apply with regards to having your dog on the property. 

What was the MM property and building previously? 

MM is a redesigned farm house on the well known Stockowners farm in Howick. The farm house originally housed the farm manager for many years until their closure in 2007. It was then bought by the Developer and owner of MM, Gerald Mundell. The house was largely renovated and built up to be the Mundells' family home, for which it served its purpose for many years. Early 2021, construction began to turn the property into what we see today, Midlands Manor. 

What does each unit consist of?

Each unit consists of a bedroom, lounge and bathroom. One of the great things about MM is the fact that all units are different and unique, being able to cater for a variety of different needs and preferences. Prices, sizes and layouts differ from unit to unit and interested parties are highly likely to find what they're looking for.
